We love reading, knowledge, and books!
We adore books and encourage a love of reading and knowledge. A book stuck at home is a book not much read! We’d love to see what adventures books go on too. We hope you’ll travel with these tomes and make a note of their adventures in their log!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I fill out the card?
You can write the month and year, the general location or park name, and rate the book by coloring the stars! No need to include your personal info. We are just seeing where the book goes.
Do I have to participate?
No – you can do whatever you would do with other books at a free library. There’s no obligation to contact us or fill out the card. Please don’t destroy the pocket or its card, for future readers.
Would you like to do more? You can find our Facebook page and tell us about the book’s current adventures and log! We’d love to hear how the books are doing.
Can I have a pocket and card, and add a book to the program?
Maybe! Go to our contact page and we might be able to mail a pocket and a record card, if we have any spares. Remember that books need to be appropriate for a free library and in readable condition. You’re representing the GrackleGoosePack!
The card is full. What should I do?
We never thought this would happen and boy are we excited! You can start writing on the back of the card, add a slip of paper to the pocket, or contact us and see if it’s possible for us to send a new card to you.
Can I donate books to Grackle and the Goose?
We appreciate the thought! Here’s a few things we’d like you to know. We are not a 501(c)(3) or a charity which means no tax deductions here. You may want to donate your book to a local charity.
If you would like to gift us a book, we’d love to look at it! Just remember that this means your book will probably start it’s adventuring life on the Mid-Atlantic Coast. If you’d like your book to start it’s journey local to you, you can contact us about a pocket and card for you to apply to the book. If we have an extra we might be able to send it to you.
